City Police have confirmed the South bound lane of London bridge is closed due to a bus accident. The number 141 crashed earlier this morning, causing a build up of traffic.

LCC reporter Kerrie Farrell was at the crash scene and says the front end of the bus was hanging over the entrance steps to Monument Tube station, with shattered glass scattered all around it.The bus driver suffered facial injuries and has been taken to hospital, along with a pedestrian who narrowly avoided being hit.

'Obviously the driver was in a lot of shock and there was a girl who came close so she was obviously in a state.' Georgia Beardman - eyewitness.

It would seem the driver swerved of the road, crashing through barriers and finally stopping with the front wheel and passenger door hanging perilously over the tube entrance. What caused the driver to swerve so violently is not yet known.

Anyone heading towards London Bridge by car should consider taking another route and listen to LCC radio for further traffic updates.

Just come from London bridge and it's packed with people. The traffic is being diverted. It's not great. I'd avoid it as much as I can.

There's a few ambulances about. I think someone said the bus driver was injured and has been taken to hospital. I hope that helps.
