Richard Gere, George Clooney and Jose Mourinho - all are very successful, all drive women wild but, most interestingly, all have gray hair.

It seems the natural look is the way to a woman's heart, with many men now choosing to grow old gracefully.

This was definately the case with many of London's women LCC reporter Alex Prior spoke to - they said that the salt and pepper style made men look mature, distinguished and educated. You can hear their thoughts by clicking PLAY on the right.

They also mentioned they were impressed with a man who is comfortable with his flaws.

So, what causes gray hair? Initially, hair is white. The cells in our hair follicles are called "Melanocytes" and these generate pigments that give our hair it's 'colour'

When these Melanocytes stop producing the pigment the result is a transparent hair. The transparent hair against your healthier darker hair gives the appearance of Gray hair. In reality the hair is not gray but transparent.

There are several myths surrounding grey hair, the most popular being that if you pluck one, two grow back. This has been proved not to be true. However, smokers are 4 times more likely to have gray hair than nonsmokers and smoking has been conclusively linked to accelerated hair loss.

In an experiment conducted by LCC News, the capital's females were shown pictues of George Clooney and Richard Gere from present day and yesteryear. Almost all of the participants, young and old, preffered these stars now, saying gray hair was a big factor in their decision.

PLUCKING ONE MEANS TWO GROW BACK - FALSE.

If you're worried about going grey or have questions over the condition of your hair, the Hair Q and A Website could help.

Cost was also a factor. LLC News discovered that many male hair dye products costing upwards of £7. There's the perhaps embarassment of buying them, as well as the slightly sickly adverts that promote them.

And it's not just men dodging the dye - Jennifer Anniston intentionally changed her hair a shade of gray, while Meryl Streep, right, has left the cosmetics on the shelf.

As mentioned above, Jose Mourinho has proved gray hair can only enhance your sex appeal - check out his best moments as a silver fox in the video (LCC is not responsible for the content from external sites).
