It used to be the case that when one thought of students and drugs one thought of spliffs and trips to an all night petrol station but now scientists say students are taking 'smart drugs' to pass exams.
Drugs given to sufferers of attention defecit disorder are being bought off the internet and taken by students at University to pass exams, an American Doctor has said.
Barbara Sahakian, a neuroscientist from the University of Cambridge has told the government that the so called 'smart drugs' namely Ritalin and Modafinil are being used by many students in a bid to make passing their finals easier.
Government statistics show that the number of prescriptions for stimulants such as Ritalin has nearly doubled in recent years, from 458,000 in 2004 to 751,000 in 2008.
This could be the result of lazier students or possibly the stresses being put on them is now too great.
