An exlusive LCC poll has revealed that over two thirds of Londoners feel that the police are racist. Over 120 people were surveyed around the capital, answering questions on the racial attitudes of the police.
But what was more alarming is that 95% of Black people questioned felt that they were targetted. Black and Asian males in particular felt ostericised.
The results below show that only 5 of the Black people interviewed felt the police were not racist. Only 12 of the Asian individuals surveyed agreed with this.
Jay Jay Epega a well known publicist in the capital spoke to LCC's Vishala Sri-Pathma about the time her brother was arrested in Selfridges. She feels that there are still stereotypes of black males in the eyes of the police.
Epega wants to see the police be more active about breaking stereotypesIn an emailed statement, The Metropolitan Black Police Association says they will work in the interests of the UK police services and be an integral partner to ensure equitable service for all.
The results follow the conviction of police chief Ali Dizaie. Dizaei is a former president of the Metropolitan Black Police Association. He was convicted of both misconduct in a public office and perverting the course of justice
He had emerged unscathed from a series of earlier inquiries. These include a multimillion-pound undercover operation examining claims of corruption, fraud and dishonesty.
