Manchester United kept the pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea after a condifent win over relegation strugglers West Ham.

Wayne Rooney was the star man on show, scoreing United's first two goals taking his tally of 27 goals for the season.

The England striker opened the scoring with a firm header from Antonio Valencia's excellent volleyed cross.

And it was another Valencia cross again converted by the head of Rooney to double the Red Devils lead.

Substitue Michael Owen chipped in with a late goal with a great clipped finish to seal the win for the Old Trafford outfit, as well as improving his chances of getting selected for the the World Cup.

The result takes United to witihn one point of Chelsea at the summit, however the Blues do have a game in hand.
